GHA at Ecobuild
11 Mar 2011 10:53 am
Wow! Ecobuild 2011 was enormous and although it seemed miles away in the Excel Centre, there were plenty of visitors there were lots of visitors there every day.
The GHA had a stand in the South Hall and met a number of interesting people, including some developers we've not come across before - everyone understood our concerns about the gap between designed and as-built energy performance of new homes and seemed keen to understand more about delivering low carbon homes in reality.
In addition, the GHA ran a seminar about our other main concern - potential health implications of indoor air quality associated with low-energy homes. The session, titled "Can low energy homes make you sick? - and how to avoid it" was full, with standing room only, and speakers like Rob Pannell from the Zero Carbon Hub and Angela Godrich from Notting Hill Housing provided great examples of some of the problems that people can encounter, before a panel of GHA experts explored some of the successful approaches that have been used to deliver healthy, low-energy homes that deliver good indoor air quality.
Copies of the presentations will be available on this site shortly and the GHA is running further events on "Low Carbon delivery" and "Health and indoor air quality" later this spring - please visit our events page for further details.
