Beattie Passive's Fife project reaches Scottish Government's Gold Standard

05 Apr 2012 10:34 am

Beattie Passive are currently building four semi-detached Passivhaus certified homes for Fife Housing Association in Dunfermline.  The project was launched in February 2012 and will be the first in Scotland to reach the Government’s new Gold Standard.

One of the main benefits of the Beattie Passive Build System apart from the simplicity of the build is the cost - these houses are being built for less than a traditional build.

Michael Creech, Fife Housing Association says:

“The Beattie Passive Build System offers us the opportunity to achieve Passivhaus certified homes for the same costs as traditional build methods. Using this method of construction will provide our clients with high quality homes which don’t cost the earth to maintain”.

The simplicity of the build system has enabled Beattie Passive to set up a community project training local, young, unemployed people how to manufacture the timber frames and to receive on-site work experience in building passive houses.  This is a community project we are endeavouring to replicate across the country.
