Director

Jon Bootland is Director of the Sustainable Development Foundation (SD Foundation), which works to promote a step change in sustainability for the built environment, with a particular focus on clients and investors. Through this work, Jon is Director of the Good Homes Alliance (GHA), and the SHINE network for sustainable healthcare buildings, as well as leading projects on schools, existing homes and low carbon buildings and communities. Jon has almost 20 years experience in sustainability for the property and construction sectors, including previous roles at The Prince’s Foundation and CIRIA (the Construction Industry Research and Information Association) and has specific expertise in how to embed sustainability into the building procurement process. Jon is also an Associate at Forum for the Future.

Tanisha Raffiuddin
Design & Communications Co-ordinator

Tanisha is a registered architect from India and has worked on green building projects in practice there. Her keen interest in aesthetic sustainable design brought her to the UK where she completed a Masters in Sustainable Architectural Technology from the University of Nottingham. She worked at The Architects' Journal under Sustainability editor Hattie Hartman on the very successful 'Footprint' blog and currently works with Hattie as a Research Assistant on her other Sustainable Design publications. At the GHA, Tanisha manages design and communications and is also currently working on the Member Projects Database.

Networks Marketing Manager

Extensive background in events management and membership engagement as Director General of the Outdoor Industries Association and General Secretary of the British Activity Holidays Association. Moved to work at an environmental/sustainability consultancy concentrating on GHG emissions audit and verification, the CRC and EUETS training. My interest in sustainability extends as far as a long-term ambition to commission my own low-energy, well ventilated, sustainably built house.

Technical Manager

Simon is a chartered surveyor and has worked within the field of sustainable development for over a decade. He sits on the Code Advisory Group and the Code Energy sub group and EEPH and leads on the more technical aspects of the GHA programme. He worked in the UK's first ecological building suppliers, then for BioRegional where he set up One Planet Products and completed a Masters at UEL with a thesis on BedZED. He leads on GHA recruitment and would be pleased to hear from any potential new members.

Melissa Taylor
Melissa Taylor
Associate - Housing (GHA and Passivhaus Trust)

Melissa has a background in Architecture, and works part-time for the GHA and Passivhaus Trust. She is also a Senior Sustainability Consultant at Hilson Moran, and is a thesis supervisor and occasional lecturer at the Centre for Alternative Technology and University of East London, where she was a Senior Lecturer from 2001-2010 for the MSc Architecture: Advanced Environment & Energy Studies.

Chris Eaton
Associate - Housing (GHA)

Christopher worked as a Building Services engineer at Fulcrum Consulting before joining the GHA team as an Associate focusing on technical issues. Having moved to the UK to complete a masters at Loughborough University in renewables, he liked the place so much he decided to stay, and settled in London. Chris is currently working on the GHA monitoring programme.

Laura Morgan
Research & Policy Associate

Laura's academic background is in Physics. She has a PhD in interfacial phase transitions. Previously, Laura was a programmer, working on financial websites. She is an enthusiastic Sponge member, helping to organise a Christmas party and other events. For the GHA, Laura does coordination and research.
